SMILE!! You Just Hit a Game Winner!!

After watching Derrick Rose and Paul Pierce hit incredible (albeit unintentionally banked) game winners, I realized something. NBA players are too cool to celebrate, or at least they think they are. These guys and others, notoriously Kobe Bryant a few years ago, just like to scowl at the crowd or act like it's not a big deal. I understand the "act like you've been there before" attitude, but these same players, excluding Kobe, love to celebrate on fast-break lay-ups in the second quarter. Along comes the game-winning buzzer-beater, and suddenly they're The Terminator. Take Damian Lillard for example. He hit one of the greatest shots I've ever seen last year against the Rockets to send them to the second round. Same scowl. The most fun and iconic game-winners are followed by fantastic celebrations. MJ fist pumping  after "The Shot", LeBron's running to the bench after his game-winning 3 in 2009, and the entire Lakers team running to the locker room after Derek Fisher's incredible 0.4 second shot. Even in college, Jim Valvano's frantic post-game shuttle run to find a teammate to hug is great. I'm all for being cool, and I commend players who hit these shots. I do however want these NBA players to be excited as I am when they hit these shots. Because if they're not excited, why should I be?
